NOW House was formed to bringing meditation and mindful awareness skills and practices to everyone everywhere. An ever increasing body of scientific research on the brain, mindfulness and meditation demonstrates many benefits – psychologically, emotionally, physically and interpersonally. Mindfulness and meditation are good for you, your partner, your children, your family, your company and co-workers, your community, and the world.
NOW House was founded as a collaboration between Frank Baird, Megan Morbitzer and Holly Sacks, three mindfulness instructors certified by the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.
Frank Baird is a co-founder of NOW House, a UCLA MARC Certified Mindfulness Facilitator and teaches at NOW House. He has taught mindfulness to corporate staff (at Amgen, Disney, Fox Entertainment, ABC Studios and more), to therapy clients at Kaiser Permanente, and to community members in a variety of settings (including UCLA MARC’s Weekly Community Practice, The Den Meditation, Against the Stream and more). He provides group and individual instruction. He is a Mentor for MARC’s Long Distance Intensive Practice Program.
Frank is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). He developed and runs a Mindfulness program at Kaiser Sherman Terrace in Reseda, CA. He is the Lead Gender Therapist for Transgender Services for Kaiser’s Panorama City Service Area and has been the past team leader for the Adolescent Treatment Program and Couple’s Treatment Service.
He has taught graduate level therapists in training at Phillips Graduate Institute and California State University, Northridge and supervised therapists-in-training at Valley Trauma Center (a sexual assault recovery center) and Phillips Graduate Institute (in their Postmodern Therapies Program). He was founder and Clinical Director at NOW House Therapy Center. He is the founder of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, The International Men’s March to End Violence Against Women, an organization that facilitates 400+ world-wide Walk events each year. He facilitates the White Allies for Social Justice group at Against the Stream Melrose in Los Angeles. Frank is dedicated to helping people cultivate inner peace, live more fulfilling lives and be active contributors to their communities and the world.
Megan Morbitzer is a co-founder of NOW House, a UCLA MARC Certified Mindfulness Facilitator and teaches at NOW House. Megan has taught Mindfulness for Parents, Families, and Children, Mindfulness in Schools, and other meditation classes in a variety of settings, including LA prisons and jails. She also facilitates a peer-led meditation group for InsightLA. Megan has more than 15 years of personal practice and intensive study of meditation and is passionate about helping adults and children live with greater ease, self-awareness, kindness, and joy!
Megan has a BS in Computer Science. As a former Sales Executive and as a mother of two young boys, she loves sharing the practice of mindfulness with others and strongly believes in the power of mindful awareness to heal and re-connect us to our own inherent sense of ease and well-being. Her greatest teachers are her husband and two children.
Holly Sacks is co-founder of NOW House, a UCLA MARC Certified Mindfulness Facilitator and teaches at NOW House. She lectures and teaches mindfulness related courses at the California State University at Channel Islands Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Holly conducts weekly and monthly study groups and retreats on various wisdom tradition texts and integrating mindfulness into daily life. Participants in her various study groups find that a mindful perspective brings new vitality to wisdom from the past and deeper connection with present day human experience.
Her pilot curriculum development program for Mindfulness for Parkinson’s confirmed the therapeutic value of mindfulness for people with Parkinson’s disease. Future plans include a closer collaboration with members of the local NeuroCommunity foundation and providing Mindfulness for Parkinson’s classes at NOW House.
Holly’s background as a senior corporate strategy and marketing executive provides direct experiential insight into her work with boards of directors for nonprofit organizations and her mindful business and organizational intelligence workshops for corporations. She is a board member of reGeneration, an American interfaith community seeding the Middle East with quality early childhood development and education.
Holly Sacks graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and completed the University of the South (Sewanee) School of Theology EFM program.
